A mix of students were promoting their different societies and groups for students to join over six different stalls.

NHSF (National Hindi Student Forum) Kingston Hindu Society have a big community of international students: “A lot of international students, so we tailor it a lot because obviously they’re away from home so our catchphrase is a home-away-from-home so we try to make it as homely as possible and try to tailor it for them,” Ashna a NHSF Kingston Hindu Society member and final year KU student said.

The society is very large, having around 50 to 60 members and on big events, like Diwali, they saw nearly 300 people come to celebrate with them.

Alongside the Krishna Consciousness Society (KDSOC) were Urban Monks. They provided meditation and mindfulness books and home-made vegan cookies at the stall and excepted donations.

Vana, a KU final year Pharmacy student and KDSOC member said: “With Kingston we have regular events, most of the KDSOC’s follow the same format, our main thing is we have a philosophy talk, interactive discussion,” These discussions are often joined by the Urban Monks that joined them today, bringing other perspective rather than all students.

The KDSOC have a range of students, many being international. They host mantra meditation on Thursdays at 6:15pm it is free entry and you get a free vegan meal.

In the middle of all of these stands was a huge platter of food made for those attending the ‘Faith Fayre’ which was free.
